Staking/Markup Explanation  

     

Every tournament I play will have a different markup ratio. This is done with all professional poker players when they are offering action.

 

Let me give you an example, Daniel Negreanu offers a 3/1 markup for the $10,000 main event. So, if you wanted to buy 10% of him it would be $1,000 at 3/1, 1000x3=$3000. For $3000 you would be in line for 10% of his total winnings. So, if he gets 1st place and wins $12,000,000. You would earn $1,200,000 from your $3,000 investment. I won't be selling nearly that high typically I'll offer an incredibly fair markup such as 1.8/1. At that ratio, if you were buying 10% of me in the main event it would only cost you $1800. This good of a deal is very hard to find since most staker/player deals are 50/50 partnerships which would mean you'd have to put up the full buy in and then you'd get 50% of the winnings in my example at 1.8/1 you could buy 50% of me for just $9000.

 

As I mentioned on my homepage, I truly do want this to be a team effort. I am making this as fair as possible for everybody so that we can all feel good about the deal and have fun! If I had been selling action on my $345,000 2nd place finish in Oklahoma this is what the total investment to payouts would've looked like at a 1.3/1 Markup.

5% would've cost $162.50 and your payout would've been $17,250

25% would've cost $812.50 and your payout would've been $86,250
